The Seven Deadly Sins is a classification of the most objectionable vices that has been used since early Christian times to educate and instruct followers concerning fallen humanity’s tendency to sin. These includes Gluttony, Lust, Wrath, Sloth, Avarice, Vanity and Envy.
1. Gluttony
is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.
2. Lust
is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body.
3. Wrath
is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury.
4. Sloth
is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.
5. Vanity
is excessive belief in one’s own abilities, that interferes with the individual’s recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise.
6. Avarice
is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual.
7. Envy
is the desire for others’ traits, status, abilities, or situation.
