Easter is the most important annual religious feast in the Christian  liturgical year. According to Christian scripture, Jesus was resurrected from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion. Some Christians celebrate this resurrection on Easter Day or Easter Sunday, two days after Good Friday. Easter is a moveable feast, meaning it is not fixed in relation to the civil calendar. In 2010, Easter will be celebrated by both eastern and western on April 4. Relatively newer elements such as the Easter Bunny and Easter egg hunts have become part of the holiday’s modern celebrations along with other traditional elements. EASTER EGGS:

The egg was a symbol of the rebirth of the earth in celebrations of spring and was adopted by early Christians as a symbol of the resurrection of Jesus.The oldest tradition is to use dyed or painted chicken eggs, but a modern custom is to substitute chocolate eggs, or plastic eggs filled with confectionery such as jelly beans.

EASTER BUNNIES:

The Easter Bunny is a character depicted as rabbit bringing Easter eggs, who sometimes is depicted in an anthropomorphic way. In legend, the creature brings baskets filled with colored eggs, candy and sometimes also toys to the homes of children on the night before Easter. The Easter Bunny will either put the baskets in a designated place or hide them somewhere in the house or garden for the children to find when they wake up in the morning.

The Seven Deadly Sins is a classification of the most objectionable vices that has been used since early Christian times to educate and instruct followers concerning fallen humanity’s tendency to sin. These includes Gluttony, Lust, Wrath, Sloth, Avarice, Vanity and Envy.

1. Gluttony

is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.

2. Lust

is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body.

3. Wrath

is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury.

4. Sloth

is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.

5. Vanity

is excessive belief in one’s own abilities, that interferes with the individual’s recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise.

6. Avarice

is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual.

7. Envy

is the desire for others’ traits, status, abilities, or situation.

A blog is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order.
