Easter is the most important annual religious feast in the Christian  liturgical year. According to Christian scripture, Jesus was resurrected from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion. The Seven Deadly Sins is a classification of the most objectionable vices that has been used since early Christian times to educate and instruct followers concerning fallen humanity’s tendency to sin. These includes Gluttony, Lust, Wrath, Sloth, Avarice, Vanity and Envy.

1. Gluttony

is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.

2. Lust

is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body.

3. Wrath

is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury.

4. Sloth

is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.

5. Vanity

is excessive belief in one’s own abilities, that interferes with the individual’s recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise.

6. Avarice

is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual.

7. Envy

is the desire for others’ traits, status, abilities, or situation.

In 2006, Federico Mayor Zaragoza (Unesco’s last General Secretary) led the jury that picked out the 21 canditates to represent global heritage. Since then almost 100 million people have been voting via phone or Internet. The website New 7 Wonders was one of the most popular sites during the voting.

The new wonders were presented on a live gala in Lisboa, Portugal, on Saturday Night. The winners? The Great Wall in China, the city Petra in Jordan, the Statue of Christ (Christ Redeemer) in Brazil, Chichén Itzá in Mexico, Colloseum in Italy, Machu Picchu in Peru and Taj Mahal in India.

Some of the candidates that didn’t make it to the end were Angkor Wat in Cambodia, Alhambra in Spain, the Statue of Liberty in USA and Stonehenge in United Kingdom.
